AT the April meeting of the Whitecross Townswomen's Guild held in their new venue at Eignbrook Parish Hall, the chairman Mavis Matthew, firstly paid tribute to the group's visit to the Town Hall to view the City Plate.

The Mayor, Polly Andrews, her Mayoress and Roger Stokes, the Mayor's officer, could not have been more welcoming with tea and cakes in the Mayor's Parlour and between them gave us a wealth of history surrounding the City Plate and Town Hall.

Margaret Russell and Dulcie Mabor were introduced as new members and Alvis Evans was welcomed back after wintering in Portugal.

The monthly coffee morning was arranged for April 21, at 19 Windsor Street, the next Federation Meeting to be in Worcester on May 16, and Mary Halls agreed to attend the National Council Meeting in Cardiff as delegate on June 21.

A visit to 'Hellens' at Much Marcle was being considered.

The competition was won by Brenda Lindsey with Mel Foster second, the raffle by Audrey Loynes.

Finally, Mrs A Hugman was introduced and entertained the group with the way of life and customs of the people of Iraq experienced during her posting there as a Physiotherapist.

Mrs Hugman was thanked by Ellen Saunders.

The next meeting will take place at Eignbrook Parish Hall on May 4, at 7pm.
