THIRTEEN-year-old Harrison Probert made an excellent start to his KIA National Club League tennis career by helping Whitecross to a 4-2 win over local rivals Worcester.

Probert, the current Hereford & Worcester champion for his age group, won his singles match convincingly 6-2, 6-4 against an opponent four times his age before teaming up with Matthew White to clinch the match victory by beating the Worcester no 1 pairing.

"It's always important to win your first fixture of the season and beating Worcester is especially sweet," said club coach Andrew Griffiths.

"We have been training hard for this match since January and it's nice for all the winter training to pay off," said captain Alex Lane, who led Whitecross to their first win over Worcester in more than a decade.

Whitecross, who won three of the four singles matches with honours split in the two doubles matches, now face David Lloyd Club, Bromsgrove on April 24.
