FUNDRAISING -The church fundraising committee held their Grand National Evening on Friday April 8 which included a delicious curry supper and homemade sweets and a giant Sweep Stake for the following day's race. This was held in Eaton Bishop Village Hall and was very well supported. Thank you to all those who donated food and to those who bought horses and tickets. The evening overall raised £800.00. The placings of the sweepstake were as follows, 1st David Beeks, 2nd Mrs Davies c/o Sidney Phillips & Co, 3rd Jack Bloomer and 4th Christopher Summers.

Sorry to all those who thought that it was a race night, but watch this space as, as promised on Friday, we will be organising one to take place during the dark winter nights. The next Fundraising Committee event will be on Saturday June 11, which will be a traditional Garden Fete at The White House, Eaton Bishop by kind permission of Mr & Mrs Jack Bloomer.

CHURCH SERVICES - Sunday April 16th Service will be Holy Communion at 10.30am, everyone is welcome. If anyone within the village has any prayers that they would like us to use in our services please contact the Churchwardens.

The Mission Group unfortunately had to be cancelled this week but has been re-arranged for Thursday May 12 at 1.30pm at Yew Tree, Ruckhall.

AID PROJECT - As part of the Eaton Bishop & Ruckhall 'Overseas Village Aid Project', Mrs Janet Bodily of World vision will be conducting a talk tonight (Thursday) in the Village hall at 7.30pm and everyone is welcome. She will speak for 20-25 minutes then answer questions.

A website has also been set up to provide details of the project, it's progress and the events which are being held. www.Godslot.com/aid.

GARDENING CLUB - The March meeting was about Hemrocallis (Day Lily) and associated plants by Elaine Horton. It was a very enjoyable talk complete with slides on the Day Lily. There are over 400 varieties, which have wonderful colours and can also be doubles. They do best in rich soil and can be divided best in the month of July after flowering. Elaine then kindly judged the gardening club competition of daffodils, crocuses, tulips, iris and mixed spring flowers.

The next meeting is on April 20 and the talk will be entitled 'Autumn the Forgotten Season' by Davis Everitt.

It was great sadness that the members heard of the sudden death of Stan Baldock. It was Mr Baldock who had started the Gardening Club with 25 members on October 13th 1982. He will always be remembered.
