Hereford Hockey Club's Vintage Xl suffered a disappointment when they were eliminated 3-0 at Cannock in a semi-final of the EHA Vintage Plate, a competition for players over the age of 50.
Hereford were punished for a slow start when they conceded a goal from a well-executed short corner routine after 14 minutes and despite an improved performance in the lead-up to half-time were unable to level.
An unstoppable shot from open play then allowed Cannock to extend their lead at the start of the second period.
Although Hereford staged a spirited comeback, they failed to close the gap and, with the city club's defence tiring, Cannock added a third goal in the closing stages.
