Presteigne 1 Llanrhaeadr 4

HIGH-flying Llanrhaeadr proved too much for Presteigne as they came out comfortable winners in this Spar Mid Wales League clash.

But Presteigne can take comfort from the presence of five 16-year-olds, Phil Ruel, Max Powell, Owen Davies, Mark Weiland and Luke Boundford in their squad, promising better days in the future.

The visitors romped into a three-goal lead in the first half hour to take a strangle-hold on the game that they never released although Tony Richards and Adie Bennett set up Joel Layton to reduce arrears before the interval.

Substitutes Willie Lindesay and Robbie Gore were introduced after the break and Lindesay set up a chance for Richards which was blocked on the line as Presteigne made a lively start to the second period.

But the home side's chances of a revival ended when Richards was sent off for foul and abusive language 10 minutes in to the second half and Llanrhaeadr sealed their win with a fourth goal 20 minutes from time.

Presteigne Reserves picked up a useful point in the Watson Associates Mid Wales League South when a goal from Chris Jones earned them a 1-1 draw at leaders Rhosgoch.
