FUN DAY - There is a Fun Day at Whitton Community Centre on September 4, from 4pm. There will be loads going on including children and adult races, frog racing, barbecue and bar. CLASSICAL MUSIC - Rivoli Quartet will perform Haydn, Dvorak and others at St Michael’s and All Angels’ Church in Lingen on Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, at 7.30pm. Tickets are £8 and are available by calling 262896 or visiting lingen.org.uk All proceeds will go to Lingen restoration fund.

EXHIBITION - There is a gaudy Welsh pottery exhibition at the Courtyard Antiques in the High street from Saturday, August 29, for one week from 10am-5pm daily. More details are available from 267033.

MARKET - The monthly market will take place at the Memorial on September 5, from 9am-1pm. All the usual stalls will be there.

STUDIO AND GARDENS - There is an open studio and gardens at the Bindery, 14 Hereford Street, by kind permission of Chris and Marylin Rowlatt on this Saturday and Sunday and August 29-30, from 11am-4pm, and Bank Holiday Monday, August 31, from 10am-noon. There will be paper marbling and book binding demonstrations.

PROMISE AUCTION - Presteigne and Norton Twinning Association is holding an auction of promises at the Assembly Rooms on September 12, from 7.30pm. Lots will include a cooking lesson with Norton Manor Chef Enos, a family portrait on canvas, a written Will by a solicitor and Welsh lessons.

Admission, £3 , will include a glass of wine. More details from pnta.org.uk EXHIBITION - There is an exhibition at Lingen church on August 29, 30 and 31, featuring 100 years of fashion, 1850-1950, and other vintage textiles together with the work of Lingen stitchers from September 2008 to September 2009. There will also be a stitchers quilt challenge and the banner displayed in Westminster Abbey at the Festival of Flowers will be on show.There will be a raffle, organ recitals each afternoon and craft demonstrations. ART AND CRAFT - There is an art and craft harvest fair at the Assembly Rooms on September 5, when stalls will include pottery, baskets, Welsh wool, paintings, knitwear, jewellery, felt plus a willow-weaving demonstration.

LADIES NIGHT - There is an Ann Summers ladies’ night for over-18s only at Norton Manor Hotel this Friday from 7.30pm til late. All ladies are welcome to join in the fun.

EARLY MUSIC AT DISCOED 2009 - There are two classical music evenings at St Michael’s Church in Discoed. On September 4, at 7.30pm, there is a chance to see Buxtehude’s Trio Sonatas, featuring Sharon Lindo on violin and David Hatcher on viola and Hilary Norras on harpsichord. Then on September 5, at 8pm, The Classical Oboe features Mark Baigent on oboe, David Lewis on violin, Mark Percival on viola and David Hatcher on cello.
