MORE than 1,000 people were without power in Ross-on-Wye yesterday.
A small explosion was reported at a substation in Brookend Street shortly before 3.40pm.
A total of 1,532 customers were affected, mainly in Brampton Street, Broad Street, Alton Road and High Street.
Deanna Mooney, central networks press officer, said: “There was a small explosion in the substation, caused by a high voltage fault.
“We managed to get people’s power back on by switching to other parts of the network, which did not affect their supply.
“We apologise to for any inconvenience caused.”
Full power was finally restored at 9.55pm and the fault is due to be fixed today.
