A HEREFORD woman scored a hole-in-one with a difference after winning £1,000 in a unique fund-raising event.
Sue Palmer, aged 51, from Hinton, picked up the prize after her golf ball ended up in the hole after being dropped by a helicopter.
A total of 2,500 balls landed at Herefordshire Golf Club in Wormsley during the event, organised by Hereford Lions Club.
“I have won small raffle prizes before, but never anything as big as this,” said Sue, who is an administrator at St Martin’s School.
“I always support the Lions, who do such wonderful work for the community, and bought tickets for the family.
“It turned out to be my lucky day.”
Sue’s winnings will go towards a family safari in Kenya next year and she also gets to keep her lucky golf ball.
