A HOST of DJs are to perform at Hereford nightclub The Jailhouse this weekend to help a young muscular dystrophy sufferer from Peterchurch.

Josh Dovey, 10, suffers with the rare muscle-wasting disease Duchenne Muscular Dystrophy (DMD).

To help with fundraising for DMD charity Action Duchenne Hereford DJ Lee Miles, AKA DJ Scoobz, is hosting Heaven Sent Hardcore this Saturday - and Josh’s mum says it’s all thanks to The Hereford Times.

Pauline Brace, an advocate for the charity, said: “These are the first people who have absolutely no family or friends connection to us to put on an event, and they are doing so because of the Christmas write up in The Hereford Times.”

The county event is the latest in a line that has seen regional donations towards vital research increase by £22,000 since Josh first appeared in our Christmas Eve edition last year.

Most recently residents raised £6000 with a skydive and a ladies lunch at Hampton Bishop raised £600.

“I do hope the list continues to grow, and that the support continues, and that more people get to know about this devastating condition,” Pauline said, “Five years ago I had thought we had no chance of beating this, but it’s this level of support which can and will change what this diagnosis means.”

Five acts will play at the Jailhouse, when the theme will be heaven and hell, and all proceeds from the £6 entry fee will go to Action Duchenne.
