A PUB near Ross-on-Wye is set to become Food pub of the Year after it was shortlisted in the finals of a national competition.
Staff at the Mill Race Pub in Walford are keeping their fingers crossed that judges from trade magazine The Publican will take kindly to them ahead of a London awards ceremony in March, when the winner will be announced.
Luke Freeman of owners Freeman Leisure said: “We are very pleased to have been shortlisted for this prestigious award. This demonstrates the high levels of commitment and competency from our strong management team.”
It comes as news of a new on-site delicatessen and farm shop was also confirmed after planning consent for an extension was granted.
Manager Jane Thompson said: “This is a really good start to 2009 and we hope that we are successful in The Publican Awards ceremony in March and that our pub can gain national recognition for our food offer.”
