A MAN from Herefordshire has died and two other people have been injured in a car crash on a busy main road.

The fatal collision between a car and a van happened on the bends of the A44 near Broadwas at 6.20pm yesterday.

Ambulance crews and a BASICS doctor from Mercia Accident Rescue Service attended and treated the car driver for serious injuries.

Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service crews from Bromyard were called by paramedics to assist and helped get the casualties to hospital. None of the motorists were trapped.

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokesman said: “On arrival, crews found a car and a van which had collided.

“A man who was in the car had serious injuries. He was taken on blue lights to Worcestershire Royal Hospital, which had been put on alert in anticipation of his arrival.

“However, despite the best efforts of crews and hospital staff, he was confirmed dead at hospital.”

Two men in the van were also taken to Worcestershire Royal Hospital.

One, a man in his 50s, had a minor injury while the second man, in his 30s, was immobilised with the use of a spinal board and neck collar as a precautionary measure.
