FINDINGS by an independent watchdog show that Herefordshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) has achieved improvements in its quality of service.
The Healthcare Commission’s annual health check shows the trust has been rated good – an improvement on last year’s ‘fair’ rating.
Herefordshire was also rated a best performing trust for its urgent care and emergency services.
The health check rating is based on how the commission believes patients are looked after, their safety, how clean hospitals and other clinical facilities are, and waiting times for treatment.
It is seen as the single most important measure of how well services are performing.
The PCT was praised for its cleanliness of facilities, its work on keeping the public healthy and the standard of care that people receive.
The trust maintained its fair rating, however, for hospital services for people with acute mental health problems.
Hereford Hospitals Trust, meanwhile, was given a good rating for quality of services, and a fair rating for use of resources.
