HEREFORDSHIRE councillors could face the axe by taking democracy into the classroom.
A cross-party group of six councillors are facing their toughest audience yet in “I’m a councillor, get me out of here”.
Members will be grilled by students at several county schools before facing a public vote to stay in the competition.
Cllrs Ursula Attfield, Patricia Morgan, Sally Robertson, John Stone, Alan Taylor and Julie Woodward are taking part to show the importance of politics, and have posted their manifestos on www.bigvote.org.uk
Cllr Stone believes the competition will get youngsters more involved in politics, but is dreading the public vote.
“It’s a great opportunity to help youngsters understand what their local councillors do and how they could get involved,” he said.
“But it’s a bit nerve-wracking - none of us wants to be the first councillor voted off.”
