WORK to restore one of Hereford’s best views of the River Wye has started.
Volunteers, including those recruited from Widemarsh Workshop, cleared overgrown shrubs and trees from the banks of the river near the promenade on Castle Green.
The project is the idea of the Friends of Castle Green, who hope to one day install viewing areas and benches along the promenade, giving tourists and visitors views of the river which have not been enjoyed for much of the past 100 years.
Councillor Marcelle Lloyd- Hayes, helping out by the river, said beer cans, pop bottles and even an old bicycle had been found while clearing-up.
Mark Hubbard, chairman of The Friends, thanked everyone who came to help and contractors Amey for supplying the workforce with tools and safety equipment.
