THE autumn programme began with food - always a popular topic with TG members. Jean Harper demonstrated her “super sandwiches”, giving us a new slant on some old favourites, for instance to grate hardboiled eggs to make them spread more easily or to roll out medium sliced bread to make it thinner for more dainty sandwiches. The samples were much appreciated and soon disappeared. A vote of thanks was given by Joy Goff.

Later in the month Pam Blythe told us how she and her husband moved to Yarpole in North Herefordshire, looked for something to do that would involve them in village life and so helped to set up a project to decorate vestments for the incumbents of the Parish Church. Members of the working party drew up their own designs, deciding to paint on silk squares which could be joined together to make decorative and colourful panels for the front and back of the chasubles and stoles. They were most impressive displayed on models for us to examine. Syliva Duggan did the vote of thanks.

Plans are being made for scrabble, skittles and quiz competitions against Whitecorss Guild and possibly Mavlern Guild. There will be a combined Carol Service in St Pauls Church in December and some members are going to the National Carol Service in Liverpool. Returning to the popularity of food we have a Harvest Supper in October and a Christmas dinner in December.
