A HEREFORDSHIRE church has been awarded a substantial grant to improve problems such as leaking roofs.
The Church of St Peter, in Staunton-on-Arrow, has been awarded £59,000 by the Heritage Lottery Fund and English Heritage to tackle problems with the building.
St.Peter's is a large parish church, built in 1856, situated prominently in the centre of the village.
It sits on the site of an earlier church and has been substantially unaltered since then.
Its construction is of squared sandstone rubble with ashlar dressings and plain clay tiled roofs.
But the roofs to both the vestry and the tower are now leaking and water is causing damage to the timber and fabric of the building.
There are also cracks and splits in the tower masonry.
The award is part of a £1million worth of repair grants for grade II listed places of worship across the west Midlands.
