A FARMER called in firefighters yesterday when nine of his cows got stuck in the river near Ross-on-Wye.
12 Firefighters from Hereford and Fownhope spent almost three hours at Much Fawley Farm, in Fawley, retrieving the animals from the River Wye between 7.30pm and 10.30pm.
High water levels caused problems when the cattle went to drink at the river and two boats were also deployed to help.
All were rescued safely.
