100 CLUB – The football club recently held the 100 club draw for the month of June at The Radnorshire Arms. SUMMER CAMP – Powys County Council is running a summer camp of sports at East Radnor Leisure Centre for the week of August 4 to 8, for children in the current school years 5 to 9. It will be a week of fun and exciting activities. Children can try a number of different activities such as basketball, cricket, netball, rounders, athletics and many more. Transport will be provided if required from Knighton, Llandrindod Wells and Builth. The cost per child for the week is £40 with transport and £30 without transport. CARS OF YESTERYEAR – Come along to The Arkwright Hall in Kinsham this Sunday from 2pm to 6pm and see the classics of yesteryear. On show will be classic cars, commercials, buses, tractors, motorcycles and static engines. There is free entry to exhibitors but a donation will be welcome. There will be refreshments, a barbecue, raffle, side stalls, exhibits plus much more for all the family. Admission is £3 for adults and £1 for under-14s. STAPLETON CASTLE – As part of Archaeology Week, there is a tour of Stapleton Castle organised for Sunday, July 13, at 2.30pm. The cost is £4 for adults and £2.50 for under-16s. This will include tea and coffee. Tickets are restricted for health and safety reasons and must be purchased in advance from The Judge’s Lodging on 260650.

PARENT AND TODDLER – There is a parent and toddler group at Whitton Community Hall every Monday morning from 9.30am to 11.30am. All ages are welcome from birth to pre-school. For details, call Elaine on 01547 5284612.

MARKET – The monthly market is on Saturday at the Memorial Hall from 9am to 1pm. This month there will be produce from the Ligne, France. Come along and pick up a bargain or two.

SUMMER FAIR – St Andrews Church is holding a summer fair in the churchyard on Saturday afternoon from 2pm. There will be games, card activities for the children, cakes, produce, plant stalls, teas, ice creams, hotdogs, plus much more for all the family. The music will be from top DJ Andre Voiture Rouge.

QUIZ – The second quiz from Presteigne Football Club is now available to purchase at £1. The winner of the first quiz was Carol Beaumont, who won £10. Completed quizzes need to be returned by July 31.

PRESTEIGNE AND BORDER FLORAL ARTS SOCIETY – The next meeting of the above club is at the Memorial Hall next Wednesday at 7.30pm. This month, Leucretia Good from Newport in South Wales will be doing a demonstration of flower arranging entitled ‘What am I to Do with That?’ The competition is ‘a design in an unusual container’. There will be refreshments, a bring-and-buy table and a raffle of the arrangements. Visitors are welcome for £4. For more information, call 267482.

TWINNING ASSOCIATION – A party of gardeners from Ligne (Presteigne’s twinning town in France) are visiting local gardens in Presteigne this weekend along with families with young children who are returning the visit made by Presteigne families last year.

FETE – There is a fete and open gardens at Evencoyd Court in Evenjobb on Sunday, July 13, at 2.30pm. There will be a songs of praise in the garden at 5.30pm. All proceeds will go to the church funds.

MYSTERIES OF STAPLETON CASTLE A guided walk will take place on Sunday, July 13, at 2.30pm, when Trefor will once again open the gates of his home and take visitors on a tour of the ruins.
