FESTIVAL – ‘Images and Colours in Poetry and Music’ is one of the concerts at the Colwall Festival. Internationally famous published poet Dick McBride and talented professional flautist Nicola Shorland together present an evening of unforgettable poetry and haunting magical flute playing. This will take place on Friday, July 18, at 7.30pm in the village hall. A bar is available. Adults cost £6 and children, £3. Tickets are available from 01684 564872 or on the door. Visit colwallfestival.co.uk COLWALL GREENER – As part of the Colwall Festival on Sunday, July 20, Colwall Greener is offering Colwall residents an opportunity to see and hear about how some residents are already preparing and adapting to the ever-tightening pressures of climate change and peak oil. During the morning, there will be displays and short talks covering various approaches to homes, food and transport. In the afternoon there will be an opportunity to form and join small action groups wishing to help the village move on. This will be held at Threshing Barn, Lower House Farm, Evendine Lane.

PHOTOGRAPHIC COMPETITION – There is still plenty of time to enter the Colwall Festival photographic competition. Entry forms are available from Steve Hockett on 01684 564872. The title of the competition is ‘What I Love About Colwall’. Photographs will be on display at Colwall Free Church from Monday, July 14, to Saturday, July 19, from 10.30am to 5pm each day and refreshments will be available.

WYCHE & COLWALL HORTICULTURAL SOCIETY – The next meeting of the Wyche and Colwall Horticultural Society will be next Monday at 7.30pm, and Dr Keith Ferguson will speak on plant hunting in South America.

COLWALL PLAYERS – Last Saturday, the Colwall Players celebrated their 21st birthday. An open afternoon was well attended by members and the public. On display were 21 years of posters, programmes and photographs plus costumes and props. The next production, The Allotment, will be performed on Walwyn Meadow on Thursday, July 17, and Saturday, July 19, as part of the Colwall Festival.
