MONTY Don is set to appear in Herefordshire after announcing his departure from Gardener's World.
The popular gardening presenter will take to the stage at the Courtyard Theatre in Hereford on October 3, for an afternoon of conversation with broadcaster and journalist Rob Penn.
The event is being held in support of the Friends of Dore Abbey.
Monty, who lives near Leominster, recently announced that this series of Gardener's World would be his last after 23 years on the BBC programme.
He began presenting from Berryfields before moving to his own garden at Longmeadow, where he has filmed for the past 16 years.
In a statement, he said:"Throughout that time – and around seven hundred programmes – I have had the privilege of sharing my own abiding passion for gardens and gardening with an equally passionate, and often equally knowledgeable audience.

"That connection with millions, not just in Britain but across the world, who share a love of gardens, plants and the natural world is something I have always treasured and which I increasingly believe to be at the heart of a life well lived.
"But now is the right time for a change.
"I look forward to continuing to work with and for the BBC on other projects, as well as following new avenues.
"There are more books to write, more programmes to make.
"And of course, I will still be gardening, dog by side, here at Longmeadow."
He later clarified in a video message that he is not retiring and has other projects in the works.
Tickets for the Hereford event cost £35 and include the option to pre-order signed copies of Mr Don’s latest book, British Gardens, and Mr Penn’s bestseller, It’s All About the Bike.
A donations bar serving wine and soft drinks will be available during the interval.
