Hereford Market saw heavy lambs at the auction fetching up to £218 per head on Wednesday, August 19.
Heavy lambs weighing more than 52kg selling at an average of 317p/kg and reaching up to 357p/kg.
A pen of 54kg lambs from P C Brigg was sold at an impressive £193 per head.
However, the top price of the day was achieved by H J Bishop, whose 75kg lamb fetched an astonishing £218 per head.
The top 10 lots all secured prices above £192 per head, with heavy lambs averaging £175.68 per head.
The market noted that the quality of meat played a significant role in supporting prices across all weight categories.
The auctioneers expressed their appreciation for the vendors' support and the quality of the lambs presented.
In contrast, the cull ewe section experienced a more challenging day, with several firms indicating a slow demand.
Nevertheless, Derek Farr of The Vedw managed to secure the top prices at £300 and £296.
Suffolk crosses commonly traded above £170, reaching up to approximately £190.
Middling pens were priced between £140 and £160.
The best of the Mules reached £165.
Hill bred ewes were priced at up to £120, with the majority sold at approximately £100.
Rams fetched up to £158.
The overall average price for ewes was £117.38, while goats averaged at £139.58.
An excellent entry of goats was sold at £185, with a group of 20 selling at £164 each.
The market also announced upcoming sales, including the second sale of yearling ewes on September 1, the Welsh Mule Sale on September 11, and the first sale of ewe lambs on September 15.
