A popular pub is set to close its doors for several weeks as part of a long-awaited refurbishment project.
The Three Tuns Inn in Bishop's Castle has announced it will temporarily shut from 6pm on Sunday, September 13 to allow work to begin on improvements to the historic venue.
Owners say the refurbishment will address years of wear and tear, refresh customer areas and help ensure the pub remains at the heart of the community for years to come.
The project is expected to take around seven weeks, with the pub aiming to reopen at the start of November.
The announcement comes as the team approaches the first anniversary of taking over the business.
In a message to customers, the owners thanked local residents for their support over the past year and said the warm welcome they had received had encouraged them to commit to the pub's long-term future.
They said: “As we approach the 12-month anniversary of receiving the keys to The Three Tuns Inn, it gives us massive amounts of pleasure to make this announcement.
“As of 6pm on Sunday, September 13, we will be closing our doors.
“But don't panic, this is for the long-awaited refurbishment of The Three Tuns Inn, where the project team will be fixing years of damage, sprucing up our trading areas and ensuring the pub is fit and fully functioning for many years to come.”
The team added that they were looking forward to welcoming customers back once work is complete.

“It is thanks to the generosity and welcome we have received from the local community that has led us to sign the longer-term lease.
“We really look forward to welcoming you all back to The Three Tuns and continuing to serve the community and visitors alike for many years to come.”
The pub is expected to reopen in early November following completion of the refurbishment works.
