AN “iconic” village pub has gone back on the market.

The Red Lion Hotel in Bredwardine, a 17th-century inn near the River Wye, is now listed for £500,000—down from its earlier price of £650,000 and following another reduction of £45,000.

The 17th-century public house and hotel, which is only a stone's throw away from Bredwardine Bridge and the River Wye, has been in the same family's hands for 40 years.

In a statement released in April, the owners said: "A pending offer on the hotel had fallen through due to a change in the buyer's circumstances.

"A lot of i’s were dotted and t’s crossed during the process, which should make things simpler the next time round.

"Until then, we look forward to continuing to provide a warm welcome and some good old-fashioned hospitality to old and new customers at the Red Lion Hotel."

The property, formerly known as The Fisherman's Arms, features a two-section lounge bar, restaurant, overflow dining area, and breakfast room.

Estate agents have described it as generating "excellent" profit and believe there is significant potential for growth, particularly if repositioned as a dining destination.

Guest accommodation includes eight ensuite rooms across the first and second floors, as well as two additional rooms with separate external entrances.

The sale also includes a two-bedroom brick cottage with a carport.
