The Barneby Inn in Bredenbury, Herefordshire, shut in February 2025 after a fire and has not reopened since, with a dispute over insurance compensation ongoing, according to the Campaign for Real Ale (CAMRA).
A large section of the pub’s car park, which has planning permission for a two-bedroom house, is now being advertised for sale by estate agents Flint & Cook for £100,000.
Planning permission was granted for a home with a lobby, hall, downstairs cloakroom, living room, TV room, dining room, kitchen/breakfast room, and utility on the ground floor.

The first floor allows for a master bedroom suite with a dressing room and en-suite bathroom, plus two additional double bedrooms, each with en-suite shower rooms.
Flint & Cook advised that the original plans included a three-bay garage, which was later removed to protect a mature tree on the site.
The new property will have its own access from the A44 and will include a garden and parking.
Plans suggest the pub will retain some parking at the front of the building.
The Barneby Inn is described by CAMRA as an "impressive" Georgian house that became a pub in the Victorian era, and was later named after a local family.
