A MARKET town bar has been ordered to improve after mouse droppings were found on the site.

Shooters Bar, based in Burgess Street in Leominster, was handed a two-star food hygiene rating after an inspector called on June 6.

At the time of the visit, the inspector found that the kitchen was in a "dirty" condition throughout, though this had improved by the inspector's second visit.

However, upon the second visit, the inspector found mouse droppings on the floor behind the counter freezers, and on the floor under the shelf where the oven is housed.

Baking trays were found with food debris under the shelf, and the door to the kitchen had potential rodent entry points by virtue of it not fitting tightly.

Double doors were also found not to be pest-proof, and while the inspector noted that there was nothing to suggest an active infestation, the lack of cleaning and disinfection following the ingress presented a risk.

Although the Safer Foods Better Business pack had not been completed upon the first inspection, it had been completed by the second visit.

At the time of the first visit, there was no hot water running in the wash hand basin. However, this was also remedied by the time of the second visit.

At the time of the second visit, the inspector also noted that both food temperature probes were not working and dirty, which posed a risk of contamination.

Shooters Bar Leominster Ltd was contacted for comment, but did not respond.
