A POPULAR beer festival is set to return to a city pub this summer.
The August Bank Holiday weekend will mark the 34th Charity Beer Festival held at The Barrels pub in St Owen Street, which is set to feature a line-up of eight bands and will offer customers a selection of over 30 beers and ciders.
Pub manager Ian Forrest said the pub was "delighted" with the return of the festival, which will be held from August 28 to August 31.
Speaking of the event, Mr Forrest said: "Last year we gave away £27,000 to local causes; that was a new beer festival record. We're hoping you can help us beat that again this year."
Tickets will go on sale on Monday, July 13.
The Barrels Beer Festival first started in 1989, two years after the brewery took on the former Lamb Hotel in 1987.
Last year, the festival also marked the pub's "Independence Day", with Wye Valley Brewery having completed the purchase of the freehold on the landmark building.
