A teenager has been praised by police after he stopped a person falling from a bridge.

West Mercia Police has presented Joey Bullock, 13, with a special award after he showed "bravery and courage beyond his years".

The schoolboy was presented with a Chief Superintendent's award by PC Douglas Hamilton and PC Lowri Jones on Monday (June 15).

The pair said Joey held onto a member of the public to stop them falling from a bridge in Bromyard last month. He managed to keep the person safe until officers arrived to take over and resolve the situation.

"During this incident, Joey showed bravery and courage beyond his years, putting himself in possible harms way to help another," they said.

"Joey is a true credit to his local community. Fantastic job Joey, well done."
