A COMPANY has been fined tens of thousands of pounds after being found liable for allowing people to work illegally in a city centre takeaway.
Rivas Food Ltd, which is registered in London, was hit with a £40,000 penalty after it was found liable for allowing people to work illegally at Marmaris Kebab House, in Union Street, Hereford.
A change registered on Companies House indicates that there has since been a resignation of a director for Rivas Food Ltd, whose address was given as the takeaway in March 2026.
A recently published Government list, which displays penalties between October 1, 2025 and December 31, 2025, brought the information to light.
According to Government advice, those found to have employed illegal workers within the UK can face a five-year prison sentence and an unlimited fine.
They can face prosecution if the worker did not have permission to remain in the UK, their leave (permission) had expired, they were not permitted to undertake certain types of work, or if their papers are found to be incorrect or false.
Marmaris Kebab House was contacted, but declined to provide a comment for this article.
