Knighton market saw 'tremendous trade' on May 7.
Auctioneers McCartneys reported strong prices on 403 new season hoggets and 324 cull sheep at the Powys site that day.
Their entry of new season hoggets averaged 420.64 pence per kilogram (ppk) and 393.60 ppk overall.
Trade peaked at 437 ppk for 42kg Texel X hoggets, reaching £183.50 per head.
The top price per head was £200 for 62kg Welsh cross hoggets.

McCartneys said: "A much better hogget trade on all weights with a noticeable lift on the heavier tegs by £10 per head on average.
"Best sellers are still those 38-44kg Cont X Hoggets with cover but everything selling well including Hillbred sorts."
Ewes averaged £141.59, topping at £238 for Texel crosses.
Mule ewes reached £194, while hillbreds peaked at £172 for Welsh ewes.
Rams averaged £167.33 per head.
Texel rams sold to £242.
McCartneys said: "Another tremendous trade that felt a touch dearer as we move towards the festival at the end of the month.
"Hillbred ewes were a noticeably strong trade today."
