A SERIAL shoplifter who was wanted by police for targeting retailers across the country has been jailed.

Claudiu Florin Constantin stole large quantities of medicines from Co-op stores in Bromyard, Leominster, and Hay-on-Wye over a series of offences.

The 25-year-old, of Green Lane, Wolverton, Milton Keynes, was convicted at Kidderminster Magistrates' Court on Tuesday, April 21 following a trial.

Constantin was found guilty of three counts of theft from shops in north Herefordshire, including incidents in 2024 and January 2026 at different locations.

For these offences, he was sentenced to 12 months in prison by magistrates.

He also received an additional 12 months and 24 weeks for activating a suspended sentence, which will run concurrently with the original term.

PC Lowri Jones, from Bromyard Safer Neighbourhood Team, said: “We are pleased to get a custodial sentence for Constantin who lives off our force area but travels around the country committing these offences.

“He was wanted by West Mercia Police and we arrested him a few days ago when he appeared back on our area.

“We won’t tolerate crimes of this nature as shoplifting directly affects retailers and the wider local community.”
