A PRIMARY school remains closed this morning after its septic tank was damaged by flooding.

Michaelchurch Escley Primary School was closed to pupils on Monday after yet more flooding hit the county, with a school spokesperson confirming that the closure was due to damage to its septic tank.

In an update, the school has confirmed that it will remain closed to most pupils on Tuesday (February 10).

A spokesperson said that the planned Oak Class trip to Gloucester will proceed today but that they will be unable to open the school and preschool.

Emergency repair work will be carried out on the septic tank on Tuesday.

"The contractors are confident that a temporary tank will be in place and functioning by the end of the day tomorrow so we should be clear to open on Wednesday," the spokesperson added.
