A GAS leak has forced the closure of a Hereford school this morning.

The Aconbury Centre announced via Herefordshire Council that it has had to close due to a suspected gas leak today (September 12).

Parents and carers have been informed and engineers are on site inspecting, the school said.

It is the second time this year that a suspected gas leak has closed the school, with a previous incident forcing it to shut its doors in March.

The centre, in Ross Road, provides school places for permanently excluded pupils commissioned by the local authority, and some commissioned directly from schools.

It also provides up to 25 full-time places for pupils who are unable to access mainstream education for issues relation to anxiety, mental health and severe medical conditions. 

Pupils are referred to the service if they are presenting with continuing, concerning, challenging behaviour and have received previous interventions from within their mainstream schools, often with multi-agency involvement.
