A FACTORY has been left devastated by a major blaze overnight, with firefighters remaining on scene this morning.
The fire broke out in Ledbury's Lower Road industrial estate last night (September 10), with firefighters swiftly on scene as plumes of black smoke poured from the building.
Station commander White, scene commander, said there was nobody in the building at the time it broke out, with no injuries caused in the fire, but that the building itself has been "severely damaged".
Crews from across the Hereford and Worcester Fire and Rescue Service area were called to the blaze, alongside crews from Gloucestershire.
Station commander White said the fire is largely out, but that the challenge now is in the roof of the factory building.
"Because of the way the roof is constructed, it is smouldering inside," he said.

"We're just waiting for relief crews to come from Hereford to operate the aerial ladder platform, and they'll get going again to carry on the work we've started stripping the whole of the roof off before we leave the site to make sure it is all out."
Station commander White said the road will be closed for the foreseeable while emergency crews remain on scene.
"We're working with local businesses that have been impacted as best we can," he said, asking people to avoid the area as much as they can while crews work.
