This is a reader's letter published in the Hereford Times on August 28.
I am extremely worried about the rise of the Far Right. We need to learn from history and make sure they do not take over like they did in the 1930s in Germany, where Hitler won an election and then took over.
Today in the UK, there is now a horrifying escalation of far-right violence. They are stirring up hatred against vulnerable migrants, asylum seekers and refugees, threatening large-scale assaults on hotels where they are being housed.

The Tories started the clampdown on refugees and migrants, denying them safe and lawful passage to the UK, and when they arrived after traumatic and dangerous journeys, they housed them in a hotel. The current government is continuing this practice.
However, Ukrainian refugees were treated very differently, being allowed to work, and they were often housed by kind people offering up their spare rooms.
We need to stand up and demand that the government make a stand against the far-right extremism and stop appeasing these dangerous thugs attacking vulnerable people. This is becoming a danger not only to asylum seekers and refugees but also to our entire non-white population.

Letters should not exceed 250 words and local issues take precedence.
The government must stop the misinformation about crime waves and lawless no-go zones. Our society has gained so much from immigration in the past and is a much better, livelier, diverse and creative place because of our non-white British population.
With 72 per cent of British people saying they are worried about far-right extremism, why are the police not arresting these people who are, in fact, terrorising so many?
Why is the government instead treating the nonviolent peaceful protesters against the genocide in Gaza as terrorists?
Something is very wrong indeed, and more people need to speak out before we end up with a totalitarian right-wing extremist government.
