The headteacher at a Herefordshire primary school is "incredibly proud" after the school received a "glowing" Ofsted report.

Robert Hollis, headteacher at Pembridge Church of England Primary School, has expressed delight after the school received a "good"  or "outstanding" rating in all categories.

The inspection was undertaken on June 10 and 11, and during the visit, inspectors concluded that "pupils flourish" at the school and that they enjoy attending due to the "positive relationships" which are a feature of the "inclusive" school.

The report states that pupils show "high levels of tolerance and respect", interact well with each other and "thrive in a vibrant learning environment".

The personal development offer in the school, which is soon to be part of the Diocese of Hereford Multi-Academy Trust, was described as "exceptional" and the curriculum was described as "broad and ambitious".

During the visit, Ofsted noted that the pupils’ love of reading across the school was ‘palpable’, while the pastoral support on offer was identified as being ‘very strong’.

In addition, the school was found to go "beyond the expected" so pupils have access to a wide, rich set of experiences, with older pupils learning about a wide variety of career options.

Mr Hollis said he was "incredibly proud" of the school, and reading the report had reinforced "just how special we are".

“To hear that the inspectors ‘felt’ what it was like to be part of our school was amazing, he said.

"To have it acknowledged that it’s clear we celebrate the uniqueness of everyone shows we have created an environment where pupils can be who they want to be.

“Our early years provision was found to be exceptional and when you add this to the fact our SEND pupils (those with special educational needs and/or disabilities) were identified as being well supported, it really does show that we are a school that caters well for everyone.

“I’d like to thank every single individual who makes our school the great place that it is and I can offer reassurance that we will not be resting on our laurels. We all remain absolutely committed to offering the best educational experience we can to all our children.”
