(Image: Joe Nobile) The annual event, which is one of Herefordshire’s leading running days, is expected to raise almost £28,000 for Bartestree-based St Michael’s Hospice, after associated costs are taken out.

(Image: Joe Nobile) The charity moved the event from the city’s Livestock Market this year, with runners setting off from the Castle Green on either a half marathon, 10k or 5k, which all finished at the Shell Store in Rotherwas.

Keeping runners safe along the route were dozens of volunteer marshals. They were joined by water station volunteers who helped keep those taking part hydrated in what was one of the warmest days of the year so far.

(Image: Joe Nobile) One of the water station teams was the Hereford-based Girlies That Run group. They were located close to the Canary Bridge, and kept runners entertained with music, motivational boards, and plenty of encouragement.
The charity is also thankful to event sponsors Hereford Contract Canning for its continued support of this popular event.

(Image: Joe Nobile) The money raised from Run Hereford will go straight towards the free-of-charge care provided to patients under the care of St Michael’s. The charity, which was founded in 1984, provides palliative and end of life care, plus support for loved ones, across Herefordshire and beyond.

(Image: Joe Nobile) In the 12 months to April this year, it supported or cared for 2,495 people - the most in any year in its history.
The majority of the charity’s annual costs are funded by the community, with events like Run a vital source of income.
