PEOPLE were rescued from a gorge by Hereford firefighters after a car came off the road.

Firefighters pulled casualties from the water after a car had landed in a ravine in Cwmyoy, Abergavenny, with paramedics and police officers also at the scene.

Working alongside the other emergency services, the Hereford fire crews assisted with trauma care and extricated casualties from the water using a basket stretcher and tensioned lines.

A spokesperson for the station posted on Facebook: "Bravo and White Watch mobilised to a road traffic collision in Cwmyoy, Abergavenny supporting South Wales fire and rescue service crews from Abergavenny, Ebbw Vale and Merthyr.
