AS AN Old Herefordian who has spent some 40 years working in Africa, I was both interested and surprised by headmaster Dr Gray’s recent announcement of his intention to open an Hereford Cathedral School’s international branch in Kigali, and hope that he has not been taken in by the former Conservative government’s, and others, love affair with Rwanda (School to open campus in Rwanda, February 20).

I am currently in Mwanza, Tanzania and wonder if he realises that there is an ongoing war, involving Rwandan troops, on one border and outbreaks of Marburg and Ebola viruses in the other two neighbouring countries?

It is effectively a military dictatorship and is predominantly French, not English speaking, so hardly an ideal choice for such a venture.

Either Zambia or Kenya would be better.

I would be happy to discuss this further should he so wish.
