Search the Public Notice PortalI AM baffled by Bromyard Town Council’s objection to the plans for a supermarket and care home on the wasteland between the town and Porthouse Rise on the Tenbury road (We don’t want it! Chiefs object to supermarket and care home plan, February 18).
As anyone living in Bromyard will know, we have an embarrassment of Co-ops and not a lot else when it comes to supermarkets. The Top Shop Morrisons is useful, but a supermarket it is not.

I am all for supporting our local shops, and Bromyard is lucky enough to have an extremely good high street, but I think we would be telling porkies if we were to claim that everyone in the town does their weekly shop at Gilberts, Legges, Gladwins, and Lamings.
We already have two Co-ops, so any damage that is likely to be done by a supermarket has already been done.

I, and everyone else I know, already go to Ledbury or Hereford, where there are other, cheaper, supermarket options available, for my weekly shop.
This then means I have the disposable cash to top up my shop with luxuries from our local shops.
We desperately need another supermarket in Bromyard. An Aldi would be nice, but I would also gladly take anything other than a Co-op!
