A ‘SUSPICIOUS item’ was found near Herefordshire railway tracks.
Police and individuals in military fatigues all rushed to Pinsley Mead in Leominster yesterday to attend to a ‘suspicious item’ found near the train tracks not far from the town’s railway station on June 12.
The police arrived on the scene at around 3pm and remained in the wooded area until after 6pm.
A Network Rail rail response team was also present to help assess the situation.
The three organisations were able to locate the anomalous object and found that it did not present a threat to the general public.
A spokesperson for West Mercia Police said: “We were called to The Old Priory, Leominster, on Wednesday 12 June at around 3pm following reports of a suspicious item near to the railway tracks.
"The item was found to not be of any danger and will be removed to prevent future concern."
