A THIEF who stole a jacket worth £200 from a Hereford shop has been up before the magistrates.

Hazara Bhakar entered a guilty plea to one count of theft from a shop when he appeared before magistrates in May.

The court heard from prosecutor Camila Toscano that the 61-year-old had stolen a jacket from Hereford’s Commercial Street Sports Direct shop on May 29.

The item he stole had a value of £200 and was a Napapijri jacket.

Napapijri is a premium clothing brand sold in Sports Direct and other high street shops. It originally gained popularity for its travel bags but now sells a range of items.

Hereford’s Sports Direct moved to its current location in Commercial Street from Maylord Orchards shopping centre in 2020.

Bhakar, of Three Arches Avenue, Cardiff, was remanded on unconditional bail ahead of his sentencing on July 2.

A pre-sentence report will be prepared ahead of his next court appearance.
