SIR Bill Wiggin repeats his assertion (Opinion, May 30) that the Conservative government is funding the road and pavement repairs in Corn Square.
This is misleading. The whole £1.6 million funding for this important upgrade to the historic heart of Leominster is being paid for entirely by Herefordshire Council, as its contribution to the High Street Heritage Action Zone. I should know as I was the cabinet member for environment and economy when this capital expenditure was considered.

I argued strongly for this overdue investment in Leominster and was supported by the Green and Independent cabinet and then by full council.
This year Herefordshire Council voted an extra £0.3 million to meet the cost of the scheme, which had risen since the pandemic.
Personally, I value value accuracy in my representative in Parliament. And someone who gives credit where it is due.
