A DRINK-driver has been handed a hefty fine after he was caught in a Herefordshire while over the limit.
Marius Ciprian Maier entered a guilty plea when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford on May 1.
The court heard from prosecutor Lauren Millichip that the 47-year-old had been caught behind the wheel of a silver Vauxhall Astra on the A4172 in Ledbury while over the limit on March 10.
An evidential breath test revealed he had 105 microgrammes (mg) of alcohol in 100 millilitres of breath. This exceeded the prescribed legal limit, which is 35 mg.

Maier, of Pixley Court Farm, who was represented by defence solicitor Mrs Parker, was fined £600 and disqualified from driving for 24 months.
He has the opportunity to complete a drink-driving awareness course by September 13 next year, which would reduce his ban by 24 weeks.
He must also pay costs of £85 and a £240 victim surcharge.
