A THIEF has been up before the magistrates after stealing coffee and alcohol from a Herefordshire supermarket.
Michael Negri entered guilty pleas to two counts of theft from a shop when he appeared before magistrates in Hereford in May.
The court heard from prosecutor Lauren Millichip that Negri, who was represented at the hearing by defence solicitor Andrew Cleal, had stolen a jar of coffee worth £6 from Ross-on-Wye's Morrisons supermarket on January 22.

The 59-year-old was also accused of stealing six jars of coffee and one bottle of brandy, worth a total of £58.25, from Morrisons in Ross on January 21, but entered a guilty plea on the basis that he only stole one jar of coffee. This was not accepted by the Crown Prosecution Service, but the bench said it would not make a material difference to the sentence.
Negri, of Old Market Close, Ross, was ordered to pay total compensation of £34.25 to Morrisons and fined £40 for the offences.
He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85.
