A ROAD sign in a busy Hereford road has remained wrong for years.

The sign in Edgar Street, opposite the Richmond Place Club, says that to get to Kington, you have to go on the A4110.

That is incorrect, with the A4110 starting in Three Elms Road and joining the Canon Pyon road through to Leintwardine.

To confuse motorists even more, the correct information is displayed just a few yards away on the filter lane to Eign Street.

That says Kington is on the A4111, which is correct.

The Hereford Times reported on the inaccuracy in 2013, and at the time, was told by Herefordshire Council's press team that the highways department was not aware of the situation, but would  contractors were told to correct the information.

However, 11 years later, and the wrong information is still displayed.

Andrew Hopkins, National Highways engineering team manager, said: “We’d like to thank the Hereford Times for bringing this to our attention and we apologise for the error and not correcting it sooner. We will arrange to have the sign amended in the coming weeks.”
