A KEY Herefordshire road that links the county to Gloucestershire will close following a landslip.
The landslip, which happened near Longhope, will be worked on by National Highways.
The A40 will be fully closed from April 21 to May 8, between the A4136 Forest Gate junction and the B4224 junction in Lea, overnight and during the day, affecting traffic in Herefordshire and Gloucestershire.
Access will be maintained for people who live on this stretch of road, as well as for businesses and emergency vehicles.
A clearly signed diversion route will be in place for traffic, with HGVs diverted via the A417 and M50, and other traffic diverted via the A4136 and B4224.

James Coyne, project manager for National Highways, said: "Our teams have been working hard to resolve the landslip issue on the A40 while investigations and surveys have been carried out.
"The works will repair the embankment, reinstate the carriageway and replace the safety barrier.
"We have already communicated with residents and local businesses, and we thank motorists in advance for their patience while this essential work is carried out."
