AN AEROPLANE owned by a huge defence company has been spotted over Herefordshire this afternoon (April 15).

The BAE Systems Marine plane was flying over the Golden Valley at around 4.30pm, having taken off from Barrow-in-Furness Walney Island Airport, with its destination being Bristol.

It's a Beech King Air 250, registered in the Isle of Man.

The company, BAE, is one of the biggest defence manufacturers in Europe and supplies to markets around the world.

Since its 1999 formation, it has made a number of acquisitions and sold its shares in Airbus, Astrium, AMS and Atlas Elektronik. It is involved in several major defence projects like the Lockheed Martin F-35 Lightning II, the Eurofighter Typhoon, the Astute-class submarine, and the Queen Elizabeth-class aircraft carriers. 

This particular aircraft started its journey at 4.15pm and is scheduled to land in Bristol at 4.56pm, according to aircraft tracker website Flight Radar, which shows data from around the world.
