A HEREFORDSHIRE road could be closed until October for roadworks.

The C1131 from Ocle Pychard to Withington Court has had a road closure in force at Westhide since February 16, with roadworks in progress.

But now a notice of intention has been published for a new road closure on the road, banning the use of vehicles on the stretch.

Herefordshire Council said the closure, which will come into force on April 21, is required due to highway repair works and the likelihood of danger to the public while the works are taking place.

The closure will remain in force for a maximum period of 18 months, the notice said, but the works are expected to be completed within six months.

Herefordshire Council's roadworks map show that the closure could be in force until October 21.

A diversion route will be in place for the duration of the closure, which will add an extra 22 minutes to your journey.
