A DRINK-driver from Herefordshire who was caught out behind the wheel of a van while over the limit has been banned.

Carl Jones entered a guilty plea to one count of driving while over the alcohol limit when he appeared before magistrates in Worcester last month.

The court heard from prosecutor Angla Hallan that the 40-year-old from Herefordshire had been caught out in Peachfield Road, Malvern, after getting behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Caddy while over the drink-drive limit in November last year.

He was given a blood test and was found to have 111 milligrams of alcohol in 100 millilitres of blood. The legal limit is 80.

Jones, of Bye Street, Ledbury, was banned from driving for 12 months and fined £400, with his guilty plea taken into account by magistrates.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £135 and a £160 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
