The court heard from prosecutor Elin Morgan that the 38-year-old, of Buckfield Road, Leominster, had been caught out on the A470 Nantgarw after getting behind the wheel of a Volkswagen Crafter van while unfit to drive through drugs on November 4.

Parton was disqualified from driving for 14 months and fined £333 for the offence, with magistrates in Cardiff saying that they had taken his guilty plea into account when coming to their decision on the penalty.

He was also ordered to pay prosecution costs of £85 and a £133 victim surcharge, which is used to help fund services supporting victims of crime.
